While hiking the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt in June 2026, I took a proper resupply and battery-charging break in Les Haudères before starting the brutal 1,300-meter (4,300-foot) climb toward Col du Tsaté.
As I left the valley, the rain from earlier that morning had just stopped and the clouds slowly began to break apart. In the distance, Dent Blanche appeared through the clouds, surrounded by these beautiful layers of mist and mountains.
I loved the layered composition of this scene, with each part of the landscape slowly fading into the clouds behind it. Rain might make hiking more difficult, but it sure does create some beautiful conditions for photos and videos.
